Spirit Safari 2014 Day 1

Today is the BIG DAY!

We got up early this morning and loaded the van.  Julie Carr and Greg Jarrell are the lone chaperones on this leg of the journey (say some special prayers for them).  Nyika, Nick, Kenna, Nene, Kiki, Jakeirah, Rhaji, John Tyson, and Zeb are in transit to NYC.  Before we get to the big apple, we’ll stop in Durham to drop off John Tyson and Zeb with their grandparents.   Then, we’ll head to Richmond where we’ll visit and enjoy lunch with friends from Huguenot Road Baptist Church.  Later, we’ll stop in Washington D.C. to view the MLK Memorial and we’ll end this leg of the journey at Woodbrook Baptist Church in Baltimore where we’ll eat dinner and stay at host homes for the  night.

You may be wondering where Alfonso, Audrey, and Helms are.  They are already in New York City.  Today, they will be worshiping with Metro Baptist Church in Hell’s Kitchen.  In the afternoon, they will practice sabbath keeping and also go on a few adventures.  Everyone will reunite on Monday with the youth’s midday arrival to Metro Baptist Church.

Throughout our journey, we will be practicing attentiveness to God’s Spirit moving in the people and places we encounter.  Where have you witnessed the Spirit of God today?
