Three Words to Describe Shayla are Diva, Passionate, and a Visionary.
She is an Artist, Photographer, Health Revolutionary and Business Woman, a Graduate of Winston Salem State University with a BA in Art and a graduate degree in Art Education. Shayla is the daughter of Stanley Locke and Patsy Locke.
Born and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina. Shayla has learned that positivity, determination, and kindness will take you on the highest road.
As a child, art was always her biggest passion; Shayla attended Northwest School of the Arts in Charlotte.
She loves to travel. In college she studied abroad in Ghana and Benin Africa. There she really got to experience her culture and heritage. It was a very spiritual and liberating experience which she will carry with her always. There she got the opportunity to study Visual Art at the University of Ghana in Accra and at the University of Cape Coast.
Shayla was very involved in college. She held many leadership positions and was involved in many organizations such as the National Council of Negro Women and Black Women for Change.
She is also a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated.
She attended The University of North Carolina at Charlotte and received a graduate certification in K-12 Art Education, she now works as an elementary Art teacher for Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools. In the future, she plans to get her doctorate in Naturopathic Science to become a Naturopathic doctor. Furthermore, she is an aspiring entrepreneur and owns her own photography company, Shayla Locke Studios. She is currently working on giving back to the community by providing health education on healthy eating and by promoting healing through diet in the community.
Some of her interests include; going to the sauna, photography, yoga, event planning, interior decorating, traveling/checking out different vegan/vegetarian restaurants, hair and makeup, going to the beach, listening to music, watching Youtube tutorials, cooking, spending time with family & friends and she loves big trucks! A quote she lives by is the law of attraction “Life and death is in the power of the tongue, and those that love it shall eat the fruit thereof."
